Yesterday when I walked home at about 2 AM, the sky was a lovely intense blue. It is a color of sky I don't think I've ever seen anywhere but Sweden in June, when the sun has dipped just so below the horizon that the pale summer blue goes darker, but the light is still around enough to keep it from nightly dark. There aren't the last rays of sunset around, it's just the smell of grass and things that hurry to grow, grow, grow before the next long winter comes and the birds have begun singing (if they ever stopped). It is quite lovely and almost (almost, I say!) worth having to live through November to January when it feels as if the sun just pops up over lunch hour to say hi
