dancing_moon: Kermit goes "YAY Ohmygod" (Yay)

You wanna know what I did today? I hope you do, because I'm totally gonna tell you ^___^

I paid someone a heap o'moniez to punch four holes in my ears!

Yep, after years of moaning about it, wanting to do it, not having the guts to actually hie my ass to a piercing studio, not having the money/time/energy etc. I finally got the second set of earlobe piercings I've wanted to do for, well, more years than I wish to recount. Aaaaand while I was there to get tortured scared shitless poked with sharp things anyway, I got myself a industrial piercing in the right ear at the same time. (That's no. 2 in this handy Wiki diagram pic)

This style is one I have admired in the "oh, that looks cool on other people"-way for a long time, but only vaguely began considering having done on myself sometime around last summer. Or something like that, 2010/11 have kind of disappeared in a miasma of work, stress, moving... But I know I already wanted one before I had my new appartment.

But - and it's a big but - I have more than a little phobia of needles and other things that "pierce" the skin. It's not just the pain, but more a fear of being invaded in that way. Of course, knowing that cartiledge piercings take longer to heal and having a life situation where I barely had the time to get my hair cut, really meant it wasn't the optimal time to get a piercing of any kind, not even a pair of "easy" earlobe holes.

But then I got to Berlin (Berlin ♥). And ended up living right around the corner (absolutely literally) from a tattoo/piercing studio. Which, after some online research, turned out to have pretty good reviews. So I decided - it's now or never!

Last week, my grant money dropped in, and I decided it was time to stop dreaming and start doing. So, today, thanks to the generosity of the EU to us inter-European exchange students, I got my piercings.

Afterwards, I went to the apothecary to buy some aftercare stuff and to Rossmans to buy chocolate. It hurt and I was all shaky afterwards ;_; And chocolate helps heal everything, as we all know. Now I've eaten (not just chocolate, a döner too) and had my little period of "ohmigosh!!!" giddyness and am slowly landing.

For further distraction the international club at the university has arranged a concert at the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, which whill play some chosen pieces. I'm off to see them in about an hour, looking forward to it quite a lot =)

How it looks? Really cool, if I may say so myself, but also a bit swollen and whatnot, so I'll hold off the pics for a few days
