It is an annoying habit of a certain segment of Swedish youth, that they sit on the train (less common on the bus, but it happens) and compare their ringtones. This was especially bad when everybode had those awful midi bleep-bleep tones... on the other hand, now they just sit on the train and listen to mp3's from their shitty phone speakers because they are too lazy to use headphones. In short: Teenagers suck
When my friends and I gather, however, we tend to compare not the phones or the noises they make, but the amount of anime/jrock/kawaii things we've managed to hang onto them lately. Bling a lamode fujoshi, so to speak*
Currently my cellphone - which, though it is a cheap piece of crap with no battery time, is a flip open phone thus I love it - contains the following decorations
Hamtaro sticker - it's supposed to light up when someone calls me, but that doesn't work. Think it's the wrong model. Nevertheless, I think it's cute. & it was a gift from Rin, thanks muchly ^^
Seven dangly things:
2 Hetalia metal charms, Austria and China
Moi dix mois metal charm, Mana's symbol
Gackt Seven Fried Chickenz tour metal charm (this is like scrap metal. It corroded in 2 days!! The M10M charm otoh is years old, and looks as new)
Kutusita Nyanko plastic figure - Eyes are almost gone, but it's still a kitten sitting on flowers. Cute
Hetalia figure charm, England with a flag - If it doesn't fall off in two days (it's brand new) I'll also add the Italy charm soon ^_^ Travel souvenirs from Setsuna-chan
A bell, saved from my Hyde photograph charm. After having been with me for over two years, the photo finally got soaked and began falling off. Still, that was one solid piece of bootleg!
Have retired the Frog / Kaeru strap, which a lovely Japanese lady gave me during karaoke. It's very worn now, since the frog is made of fabric, and I'd like to put it in the photo album before it's completely destroyed.
I like my little dangly things... except the stuff I buy at work (the cat, and a little Mamegoma seal I had to retire once the color scraped off) it's all souvenirs, mementoes and pieces of memory. Also, it helps me find and grab the phone when it rings in my bag
* Although I also know people who really bling their phones, with faux stones and everything. In moderation, it looks nice. In excess it looks tacky. In EXTREME WOAWZA EXCESS (stones, cakes and at least 15 cute dangly things), it has achieved the state of a gyaru phone - which, congrats, if you've come that far, you have circled back into cool. For a very particular subset of cool, but one to which I enthusiastically subscribe
