Although I can accept the "everyone loves the main chara"-trope to a certain extent. In Fushigi Yuugi, I didn't mind Hotohori, Tamahome and Amiboshi - but when Nuriko and then Tasuki falls for her? I prefer to handwave it away and blame the fact that they were magically bound to her or something...
I adore the way the series lets her being nice be an actual political advantage.
