Aw, darn it :/ I hope it's partly adaption decay.

Although I can accept the "everyone loves the main chara"-trope to a certain extent. In Fushigi Yuugi, I didn't mind Hotohori, Tamahome and Amiboshi - but when Nuriko and then Tasuki falls for her? I prefer to handwave it away and blame the fact that they were magically bound to her or something...

I adore the way the series lets her being nice be an actual political advantage.

Yes! Me too, it felt very fresh and unusual, but really good!

I'll keep reading until something happens and it turns sucky, but I'm glad to hear that seems highly unlikely :3
